Lee Taeksoo is a distinguished ceramic artist known for fusing traditional pottery techniques with a contemporary aesthetic. Graduating in Craft from Chungnam National University, Lee has developed a unique artistic philosophy that explores the concepts of time and existence through the mediums of ceramics and hanji (Korean traditional paper). His works create a sensory experience where fragments of Ming dynasty ceramics are seamlessly integrated with modern interpretations, allowing viewers to witness a captivating intersection of tradition and modernity.

Lee’s process highlights the natural layering of colors as they soak into hanji, revealing the emotional resonance and the passage of time embedded in each hue. The interplay between these colors and historical ceramic fragments tells a story that transcends time and place, inviting viewers to delve into the artist’s reflections on the evolution of materials within the dimension of time.

Exhibited in museums and galleries both in Korea and internationally, Lee’s work bridges traditional aesthetics with a modern perspective, inviting audiences to experience the silent marks left by time and the emergence of new beauty from these enduring traces. Through his collected ceramic fragments from various periods and locations, he continues to investigate the artistic possibilities of connecting past and present, fostering an appreciation for the continuity of art through ages.
